R40 / 120W Chromalux® Enhanced™ Full Spectrum Reflector
Perfect for use in recessed fixtures, this is the ideal choice for residential applications that require beautiful, pure, and color-defined illumination.
The R40 120 Watt flood lamp uses the same pure neodymium glass envelope as a traditional Chromalux® incandescent but provides 18% more light, better lumen efficiency, and a whiter light spectrum (4200K vs 3750K).
This is the perfect, just right light to use as all around, general flood light throughout your house.
Features of Chromalux® Reflector Lamps:
-Neodymium glass filters out dulling light frequencies, revealing crisp light and vivid colors.
-Real silver reflector instead of a painted on reflector for superior light quality, luminosity, and brilliance.
-Outside frosting * instead of inside frosting for less glare and light that is softer on and better for the eyes.
-Chromed brass socket instead of an aluminum socket for superior lamp life and to prevent corrosion.
*All frosted flood bulbs by Chromalux® are carefully frosted by hand, not machine. Variations in frosting are normal and do not affect light quality.
Please always check the max-wattage rating of your fixtures - these are 120 watt bulbs and may burn out quickly if used in fixtures rated for less than 120W.
About Chromalux®
About Chromalux® full spectrum lamp, the original light bulb for health and wellness since 1959:
🌈 incredible color balance and acuity (CRI 98-99)
☀️ balanced, full spectrum light
😀 natural mood booster
👁 zero eye strain or glare
⚡️low flicker, EMF-safe
The ultimate light bulb for your health and well-being! Chromalux® full spectrum lamp has been enhancing people's lives and the spaces they live in since it was first created in Finland over 60 years ago.
The Chromalux® full spectrum bulb creates a soothing yet vibrant interior space that you'll love to live, work, and play in.
All Chromalux® light bulbs contain neodymium glass which filters out yellow and other dulling frequencies of the light spectrum, resulting in filtered light with enhanced violet, blue, green, and red tones. The result is an environment that comes to life: colors are more vibrant, textures enhanced, and contrast increased.
Chromalux® bulbs are the ultimate tool in supporting your health + well-being. They are, by definition, low in flicker, EMF-safe, and absolutely beautiful.
Benefits
Many of the benefits of Chromalux® lie in our signature neodymium glass, which purifies light to provide the ultimate soft, crisp, and pure natural light that helps you see better and makes you feel better, all while providing your body with the pure, full spectrum of visible (and non-visible light) it requires.
Feel Better: Well-being all year round
Designed for extended usage as a healthy replacement for ordinary light bulbs, Chromalux® provides your body with the pure full spectrum light it was designed to receive by closely mimicking nature's sunlight.
Just like the quality of food we ingest, the quality of light we use can make a difference in our overall well-being and vitality.
Chromalux® bulbs contain more of the soothing red spectrum with no peaks or valleys in the visible light spectrum, consistent with natural daylight, and unlike most types of lighting available today.
See Better: Eye Health, Visual Comfort+Acuity
Chromalux® bulbs are naturally low in flicker, but the real difference is seen through its signature neodymium glass, which filters glare and creates better contrast and definition between colors, tones, and textures, to finally allow your eyes to relax and see clearer. Thanks to these inherent chromatic balance and color discriminating qualities, Chromalux® has been a top recommendation for the low vision population since the 1980s, and has been shown to enhance visual acuity.
Enhanced Environments: Pure+Vivid Colors
Chromalux® is the original neodymium glass light bulb, which works by purifying the visible light spectrum - removing glare and dulling frequencies - while strengthening violet, red, blue, and green values. As a result, light is filtered, cutting glare and revealing the most beautiful crisp and vivid colors.
The Chromalux® light bulb brings the beautifully enhanced colors, texture, and contrast inherently present under natural sunlight, back into the home.
Under Chromalux® light, you'll notice colors, textures, and tones become more vibrant and your home more alive: very much like photoshop for real life!

Our Magic Element
Without ever turning it on, the most noticable quality of a Chromalux® light bulb is its lovely lavender glass. Responsible for this lovely tint and pure light output of Chromalux® is the element neodymium.
A stunning lavender or blue in appearance, neodymium is an earth element that possesses some unique color enhancing and purification qualities.
Neodymium acts as a filter - absorbing dulling components of the visible light spectrum - like yellow - to purify your environment and naturally enhance colors and textures.
When used in Chromalux® light bulbs, these color enhancing and purification qualities are simply stunning.
FAQ
Are these dimmable?
Our frosted glass reflector (R) flood bulbs and all PAR halogen bulbs are dimmable.
Our reflector flood (R) style lamps in clear glass are not dimmable.
What is the difference between reflector (R) flood bulbs and PAR bulbs?
While both are perfect for use in either recessed can or track lighting, the light beam of flood type light bulbs (R style light bulbs) have a less defined edge than a comparable PAR light bulb.
Flood bulbs are great for general illumination and covering large areas with light.
PAR bulbs are more like spot lights, with a defined and focused beam of light.
How do I know which size flood bulb I need?
Measure your current bulb's diameter and length from base to top, then select our bulb that is closest in size (scroll up to find a bulb's size under the tab entitled "specs"). Most BR30 bulbs and BR40 bulbs are comparable to our R30 and R40 bulbs, respectively.
If you don't have an existing bulb, measure the diameter of your recessed fixtures.
Usually, 3'' diameter = R20/PAR20, 4 or 5'' diameter = R30/PAR30, and 6'' diameter = R40/PAR38
Our R25 bulb is an unusual shape, but is commonly used in either 4" or 5" cans.
Pro tip: if any bulb is a bit shorter in length than the depth of your fixture, you can use something called an E26 socket extender to add an inch or so of length to your bulb and to drop it more flush with your fixture opening.
