"I have been using the infrared light for just a few days and I already notice a difference, less coughing and i am breathing so much better. Every evening I sit in front of this light, focusing on my upper body for about 30 minutes. Overall, I also feel so much better."

"We use this lamp right before bed, very relaxing and warm. perfect for a bedside stand or even reading a book in bed. Love this so far! Found an increase in overall energy in the mornings so far, but, just starting our journey with this."

"It's been a game changer for my pain relief. I was skeptical at first, but this bulb has worked wonders for my sore muscles and joint stiffness. After just a few sessions, I noticed a significant reduction in my pain levels, especially in my lower back and knees."

What is Red Light Therapy?

Red light therapy has been shown to create systemic boosts in cellular function that can promote healing, combat pain, and contribute to full-body wellness. The primary mechanism is a noted increase in ATP energy production, a crucial part of cellular function. Simply put, red light therapy supplies the mitochondria of your cells with the necessary light energyto power up ATP production.Think of it like light food for the cells, and a concentrated dose of the sun's healing power without any of the blue light and UV light present in actual sunlight!

FAQ

What is the difference between red light therapy bulbs and regular red light bulbs?

Red light therapy bulbs are specifically designed to emit light at precise wavelengths (typically between 630–660 nm red light and/or 810–850 nm near infrared light) that have been shown to support cellular energy production, reduce inflammation, and promote healing. Red light therapy bulbs are often high-powered and engineered to deliver therapeutic doses of light that can penetrate the skin effectively.

In contrast, regular red light bulbs—like those used for sleep—emit red visible light but not at the correct wavelengths or intensity needed for therapeutic benefits. Red light bulbs are typically used as sleep light bulbs, to help wind down in the evening, as the absense of blue and green color wavelengths of light allow for optimal melatonin release for for a good night's sleep.

Can you use red light therapy everyday?

Sure! We actually recommend it, as consistent use—about 10 to 20 minutes per day—often leads to the best results. While you might feel some immediate warming or energizing effects, it's consistency that tends to bring more noticeable, long-term benefits—just like with anything else.

However, it’s always a good idea to follow the guidelines provided with your device and start with shorter sessions to see how your body responds. If you have any medical conditions or are taking medications that make you sensitive to light, it’s smart to check with a healthcare provider first.

How often should you use red light therapy?

For most people, using red light therapy at least 3 days a week is ideal—especially when you're starting out or targeting a specific issue. Sessions typically last between 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the area you're treating and the strength of your bulb or lamp. You can definitely work your way up to everyday usage.

Consistency is key. While you may likely feel some effects right away, long-term results like improved skin tone and texture come with regular use over several weeks.

You may feel that you need your lamp more consistently during the fall and winter.

Can you overdose on red light?

Red light therapy is generally very safe, but using it too long or too often may lead to diminishing returns, temporary skin sensitivity, or mild irritation, especially if you’re very close to the light source. If in doubt, start low and go slow!

What is the difference between red light therapy panels and red light therapy light bulbs?

The main difference is power and features. Red light therapy panels are larger, high-powered devices designed to treat a broad area of the body at once. They're ideal for full-body or targeted therapy and often combine red and near-infrared wavelengths for deeper benefits, along with (as is the case with our Radiant Spectrum Panel) the ability to control brightness, wavelength emissions, and pulse.

Red light therapy bulbs, on the other hand, are smaller and usually fit into standard lamp fixtures. They’re great for focused, spot treatments, but they don’t offer the same intensity or coverage as a panel.

Our Chromalux® full spectrum incandescent red light therapy bulb also offers a full, continuous spectrum of red color to near infrared wavelengths of light, unlike LED light therapy panels (or red light therapy LED bulbs) which emit isolated wavelengths of light. While both units offer healing and cellular energy support, our Chromalux® full spectrum incandescent red light therapy bulb emits radiant heat, so if you're looking to soothe aches and pains, this may be the bulb for you!
